Brief description
Bow back Windsor side chair with plain spindles in the back. This chair bears the maker's stamp of 'J.F.S.' and 'A & F Howland', an untraced maker from the Thames Valley region. It was probably made c. 1900.

bow step/shoulder jointed into seat with round tenon; legs elliptically turned with an upper & lower narrow ring turning, type F (TV).
Chair back: bow back has scribed edge line & supports 6 elliptical spindles; 2 rear spindles connect rear 'wedge' to bow
