Hand-coloured engraving showing three scenes with the title below and descriptions above. The publication line is printed below the left hand image.

Content description

The print depicts the effects of the Napolenonic Wars on Great Britian as shown through the personification of Great Britain, the character 'John Bull'. There are three scenes entitled 'Before the War', 'During the War' and 'Peace with all the World' with the living conditions getting decidely worse in each image. The first image under the heading 'Before the War' shows a family seated at a table eating, the child complains, 'I can't eat any more' because he is so full.

In the last image, the dog cannot be seen which suggests the bones the father is carving are in fact the dogs.
