Mezzotint print, hand-coloured with watercolour and gouache on laid paper, surrounded by a border with the title and publication line printed below the image.

Content description

A man lounges on a couch with one leg on the couch and the other on the floor, his is wearing his sword which is tied around his waist with a loose red cummberband. His hat is on the seat of the couch at the opposite end to where he sits. The mans right arm is outstretched across the back of the couch, his little finger, on which he wears a ring, is touching the little finger of the lady who leans against the couch towards him. There is a small dog standing in front of the couch watching the couple. There is a decanter half full with wine and an empty glass on the table to the right of the couch. The window is draped with red curtains. On the wall behind the couch is an ornate wall hung candelabra.
