Physical description

This brass candlestick has a square moulded gadrooned base and a decorative drip depression. The stem has tapering fluted columns surmounted by a square gadrooned knop and concave socket, and detachable square gadrooned bobeches, or drip trays. The candlestick is quite bronze in colour, probably due to a high percentage of copper in the alloy. The sleeve, or part of the socket that does not show, is a yellower colour of brass.
