Physical description

The spoon has a slip top stem and fig-shaped bowl. It is struck with a maker's mark and the owner's initials on the front of the bowl near the junction with the stem. The stem is of a uniform width and has a hexagonal cross-section, flattening out towards the distal end. The surface is patchy throughout with black discolouration, a result of being in the Thames foreshore mud. There is considerable surface damage both on the flat surfaces and edges.
