Physical description

One of a pair of walnut pole fire screens with a glazed oval screen containing a possibly hand coloured lithograph of a spray of roses within a cream mount. The frame is decorated with carved vine leaves and is surmounted by a cartouche with a turned and carved finial. The pillar has a gadrooned (carved ornamental device consisting of bands of short vertical reeding with rounded top and bottom) and cabochon (raised oval shape decoration) carved pilaster and stands on three moulded and carved legs with claw feet and there is also a finial to the base.
