Brief description

Japanned coal vase made from lacquered tin plate with gilding and painted floral decoration on the lid, cast iron claw feet and iron lion mask handles, with a removable tin-plate liner, probably manufactured in or around Wolverhampton, c.1830.

Physical description

Japanned coal vase with a line of gilding around the top and bottom of the body and painted floral and gilded decoration on the lid. It has an iron knob on top. The vase is made from lacquered tin plate, with four cast iron claw feet and iron lion mask handles. It has a removable tin plate liner with iron oval handles inside. The liner may have been re-lined.
