Plate
Hard-paste porcelain
Made in Jingdezhen, China, about 1750

Chinese porcelain was in high demand in England. The Chinese manufactured wares specifically for export which appealed to English taste. The lobed shape of this plate is similar to designs for European silver. It was made in the Chinese city of Jingdezhen, where huge quantities of porcelain were produced for export to Europe.
