Coloured engraving on paper with the title printed below.

This engraving depicts a man and woman in a drawing room, the lady lounges on a pink chaise longue, with one foot resting on a foot stool. There is an open book on the chaise longue which reads, 'Art / Love' which suggests these are the two most important things to the lady and is evidenced in the picture; the Dandy is her love interest and the 'art' being the Opera as represented by the Opera glasses she holds. She is wearing a yellow dress which has large blue flowers along the trim and an extravagantly large bonnet. There is a speech bubble above her which reads, 'Come and sit down my dear little Dandy / and I'll give you a bit of white sugar candy.' To the right of the woman stands a man, he is wearing tight fitting pantaloons, a high collared shirt, a blue tail coat, yellow gloves and he holds his hat in his hand. The man leans against the chaise longue with his hand resting on his cheek and giving the woman a sideways glance. There is a speech bubble above him which reads, 'No Miss I thank you I really cannot stay / For between you and I, I've nothing more to say'.

There is a fitted floral carpet on the floor and a hearth rug, a fire screen stands in front of the fire, there is a curved fender in front of the grate and a fire poker, tongs and a shovel. There is a sleeping figure on top of the mantelpiece and a landscape picture above. A bell pull hangs to the left of the fireplace. To the left of the scene is a table covered with a fringed cloth on top of which are two decanters, one with a label which reads, 'Port', two wine glasses, two silver candlesticks and a plate with fruit.
