Physical description
The candlestick is cast from brass, but has a copper colour, possibly due to a high percetage of copper in the alloy. It is hollow and has a trumpet-shaped base with a decorative indentation around the edge. There is a broad drip tray above the trumpet at the bottom of the stem, and an overturned lip at the top below the candle socket. There is a slightly protruding band knop on the stem. The colour differs over the surface and there is some pitting. There is a line of brazing under the rim, which suggests that the candlestick has been repaired.
Characteristically trumpet candlesticks are socket candlesticks with a low drip-pan and a wide trumpet base.
