Content description

The etching is a satirical image of domestic music playing. It depicts an old man asleep on an upholstered chair, with his feet up on a plain ladder-back chair. A woman sits on a similar chair playing a piano. Part of the fireplace surround and a door can be seen. The mantlepiece has two candlesticks, with candles lit. A four armed wall mounted sconce is also shown. The carpet has a simple pattern of 5 petal flowers. The etching has not been coloured, but has been trimmed to the borders and re-margined.
