Physical description

Octagonal glazed earthenware plate painted with a central design of a small spray of leaves and blue berries and eight panels painted with alternating rural landscapes and flower sprays.

Outside two concentric rings encircling the central design, there are eight panels, outlined in dark blue lines, containing alternating rural landscapes and sprays of flowers. The rim of the plate is painted with three parallel lines following the eight angles of the rim, interupted by green diamonds at the corners. The green diamonds align with eight green triangles with the inner concentric rings.

The rural landscapes paintred in four of the panels represent a horse drawn haywain, farm buildings with hills behind them and chickens in the foreground, a stream curving through a field with cows, and a village green with cottages and a church. The panels containing single sprays of wild flowers represent heartsease pansies, celandines, oxalis, and pimpernell / Herb Robert.

The reverse of the dish has two impressed marks - one Wedgwood and one 307, with a painted mark 'JESSIE JACK / LONDON / MARCH 1915' in black with a spray of green leaves.
