Physical description

Central section of Sony Jewel micro system, comprising the tuner, tape player, CD player and radio, housed in a casing of tall, rectangular box form. The front is slighty convex and covered with a brushed aluminium facia in which are the controls, display panel and tape deck. The CD player is accessed through a clear- glass, hinged lid on the top. Two locators of screw-head form on both sides of the unit allow the two speakers to be attached. This system was `highly recommended' in the `What Hi+Fi'awards 1998 for mini and micro systems.

Stereo system

‘Made in China’ has been a familiar label on goods in the British home since the late 1980s. Although they are made in China, consumer electricals, like this stereo system, were often developed in Japan by big companies like Sony.
