Physical description

Glazed terracotta wall mask, moulded in the form of a female head; the neck rises from a curved green-glazed scarf, the head tilts to the left. Thin painted brown lines mark the arched eyebrows and eyelids, with the eyes painted in mint green. The lips are painted in discoloured orange/brown into a cupid’s bow shape. Thick applied orange/brown glazed spirals represent curled hair. There is a a pireced hole for suspension in the unglazed hollow back of the mask, with a painted black 'X' to the right. It is also marked with the printed Goldscheider monogram and 'MADE IN GERMANY', 'a painted black 'B.' and impressed in the neck section are the numbers 7999, with 3 underneath.
