Tin-glazed earthenware dish painted with alternate broad black bands and figure of eight line shapes and dashed grey single vertical strokes running around the rim. Manufactured by Rye pottery between c.1953 and 1970.

Tin-glazed earthenware dish with curved sides and flattened ends, narrowing towards one end. The body of the dish is decorated with five broad black painted lines, narrowing in length towards each end from the central longest band, each band with sgraffito decoration of a single wavy line or four parallel straight lines. Between each black band are two figure-of-eight shapes sketched with a fine grey line, and a vertical straight line runs the length of the middle of the dish. The rim is decorated with repeated vertical fine grey single strokes.
The reverse of the dish is glazed white and has four partially glazed feet. It is printed with the Rye pottery mark.
