This seat was designed by Terence Conran, and retailed through Habitat from 1974 until 1980. During that time its price rose from £60 to £117. The seat is called 'Scoop' and is formed from a solid block of upholstery foam which has been scooped out. Over the top it has a padded cushion made from a wide-ribbed corduroy cotton fabric called 'Groovy'. The seat is quite versatile and can be put together with others to make different seating arrangements for the living room. The seat is low to the ground and indicative of a more relaxed and informal lifestyle than prevailed earlier in the twentieth century.
