Content description

This watercolour painting depicts a room with panelled walls. The setting is urban, as buildings can be seen through the windows, but trees, possibly from the garden, are reflected in the mirror between the windows. A woman sits sewing by the fireplace and another is working at a table nearby. The room is dominated by a circular pedestal table with books on. Behind the table is a grand piano. The upholstered seating has red loose covers and white antimacassars and matching red curtains are shown in the reflection in the mirror, but those of the windows on the street wall are green.
