Brief description

Sideboard with sliding doors and five drawers, made from solid teak and teak-veneered plywood, made by Finmar in Denmark and retailed through Heal's in c.1956. It was acquired from the son of the original owners and there is a Documenting Homes collection associated with this object, 221/2011.

Physical description

Sideboard made of solid teak and teak-faced veneers, with short tapering legs supporting a long, rectangular body. The front is divided into three sections with a sliding door at each end and a central section with five drawers. The solid teak drawer fronts are angled, sloping inwards towards the top, and are dovetailed on to the drawers which are of solid, light coloured wood, probably beech. The handles of the sliding doors (one on each door) are of a slender hexagonal form, inset into the door panels. In each end section, behind the sliding doors there is a light coloured wooden shelf on adjustable metal runners.
