Content description
The print depicts a woman seated at a tripod table with lyre shaped support, doing her accounts. She is gesturing to a tradesman who is bowing humbly as she sends him from the room, having paid his bill. Two dogs are shown approaching the tradesman.
The room has two sash windows with yellow and blue swagged curtains, the lower sashes have an additional net or muslin curtain on a pole. The walls are stone-coloured with a pink border above the skirting boards and a fitted carpet with a blue background patterned with green octagons and bordered with pink circles. The interior also includes four 'klismos' chairs (Ancient Greek-style chairs), two of which have blue squab cushions. The room also has a fireplace with a fender, hearth rug, over-mantle mirror and candlesticks.
