Caption for Exploring 20th Century London website:
This 'Decolurme' table lamp, its shade made of anodised aluminium, was designed by Paul Boissevain for the London firm Merchant Adventurers. It featured in the 1951 Festival of Britain on South Bank - as an example of high quality industrial design. It was presumably a noted and fashionable choice, as it also appeared the following year in an illustrated interior design book, as part of a dining room scheme for a flat, alongside contemporary furniture, Midwinter animal figurines and "brightly coloured Polish rugs and upholstery".
