Physical description

Two-seater sofa, part of a three-piece suite with chairs 20/1978-2 and 20/1978-3. The ettee is covered in plush upholstery. Tassles hang from each arm, and the arms are edged with twisted silk cord. The settee's upholstery design consists of a series of squares in varying shades of brown and beige. The squares are interspersed with sprigs of fruit and foliage. Areas of the upholstery show the mesh underneath. These gaps in the fabric form part of the upholstery's design. The settee's feet consist of four turned wooden roundels, possibly made from beech, resting on metal castors. The roundels are quite chipped and the varnish has become worn. The edges of the settee's head rest are trimmed with twisted cord, on either end.
